Mango and Peach Salsa Burgers

It's summer and for my birthday last month I treated myself to a new grill and smoker. I love smoking meat but I wasn't a huge fan of the electric smoker I purchased a few years ago so I didn't use it much except for a turkey at Thanksgiving. My new grill is a Traeger and it smokes as well as grills and I've been experimenting with it as much as I can. My favorite thing so far has been the huge pork butt I smoke a few weeks ago. We used it for over a week and had everything from sandwiches to tacos with the meat. My mouth waters even now when I think about it.

As much as I love the other meats, for family dinners we typically turn to burgers as a quick solution for feeding the masses. Honestly, most of the time we use the frozen pre-made patties from Costco, but I love a freshly made burger and really there's no comparison. If I'm really planning ahead, I'll make a double batch and freeze them and then use those for Breanne and myself and throw the other patties on for the kids. At least until I can confirm that they truly appreciate the better burgers. :)

I will say though that I'm not a big fan of a million additions to burgers like egg, bread crumbs etc. To me, that's meat loaf and it has its time and place but not around my burgers. I like simple and these burgers I created perfectly fit the bill. Start with a good quality ground beef. As much as I hated doing it, I splurged on the expensive organic ground beef from Costco for these and it truly made a difference. You don't want a lean hamburger either when making burgers. Get an 80 to 85% blend and you'll have much better results.

We are huge salsa fans around here and even the kids go crazy for chips and salsa, even the hot ones. None of them are safe in the fridge here. We've also always been huge fans of +Sabra Hummus and we knew when we first received Sabra Salsa's, they'd be just as good. We have been amazed with every flavor we've tried, from the Restaurant style to the Mango and Peach used in this recipe. They all taste like they're fresh from the garden and I love how each one tells you how much tomato, jalapeno etc are in each container.

Mango Peach Salsa

For these burgers, I simply mixed in some of the salsa as well as a little worcestershire sauce and formed them into patties. Look at the amazing fruit and veggies all through these burgers! I topped our burgers with some mashed avocado, bacon, grilled pineapple and lettuce. There's no easier way to get some amazing flavor into a burger than this. Go for it. Try this or any of the other salsa flavors and let me know what you think!

Mango and Peach Salsa Burgers

Ingredients
1.5 lbs ground beef (preferable 80-85% lean)
1 cup Sabra Mango Peach Salsa
2 Tablespoons Worcestershire Sauce

Directions
Place all ingredients in a large bowl and using your hands, gently mix them together. Form the meat into 4-5 large patties pressing tightly to keep the meat together. For easier grilling you can freeze the formed patties for 30 minutes at this point.

Place patties on a preheated grill and cook on each side 8-10 minutes or until cooked through.
